A Virtual Community Learning Experience

About the event

Ayurveda is the oldest science of health and healing, originating in India during the Vedic period and codified over millennia. Ayurveda’s nature-based foundation and time-tested principles make it as relevant today as its genesis 5,000 years ago. “Ayurveda” comes from Sanskrit roots Ayur +Veda (Life + Knowledge) and is considered a “sister science” to the Yoga philosophy. The vast body of wisdom known as Ayurveda promotes vibrant health, a satisfying life, and longevity.

It is much easier to address a small problem than a complex one. Ayurveda teaches us to “read the tea leaves of imbalance” in our body and our mind before imbalance evolves into disease. Ayurveda offers accessible, empowering, and practical tools that help us to preserve our existing health and prevent future disease. This offers a counterpoint and a complement to our modern healthcare system which is primarily focused on symptom and disease management. Ayurveda takes up an entirely holistic perspective of life and views the human being as an organism comprised of a body, sense organs, mind and soul. The gross and subtle aspects of an individual are fully integrated and interdependent. Therefore, they are never experienced or assessed in separate dimensions.

Who is this Learning Circle designed to attract?

This opportunity is for newcomers to Ayurveda seeking to understand the basic principles and practices of Ayurveda. Our Learning Circle is ideal for people who are eager to develop a intuitive and personalized selfcare routine. Participants who thrive in our Learning Circles tend to have a strong interest in holistic health, nature, sustainability, nutrition, spirituality, personal development and taking charge of their heath. We also find that practitioners of postural yoga reap benefits from Ayurveda to efforts “on the mat.”

What is a Learning Circle?

A Learning Circle is a committed cohort of engaged participants who come together on a regular basis to learn about a shared interest. Participants each other offer mutual support through the gifts of presence, listening, reflection, and inquiry. The Learning Circle time will dedicate time in each session for participants to share experiences and perspectives as it relates to the material. An important Ayurvedic practice is to “keep good company” and our Learning Circles are specifically designed to offer that benefit.

What is the participation commitment?

Each participant’s energy enriches the experience of the whole. We ask participants to plan to attend live.

How is the learning experience designed?

Ayurveda is an experiential science. To get benefits, you must practice and cultivate awareness. To support this,

participants receive three “assignments” at each session to complete over the following two weeks:

(1) one self-reflective practice

(2) one Ayurvedic practice

(3) one reading assignment or informational resource to further your understanding of core content
